My husband, Mike, and I are expecting our first child very soon. The due date is February 27th but the doctor thinks he might come a little early. This entire experience has been amazing. From first finding out we were expecting to finding out we were having a boy! Many friends of mine have already had children and hearing about their journey I thought prepared me for it. Little did I know that until you actually go through the experience yourself, you never truly understand what it's like.
As the days go by and the weeks wind down I am faced with the reality that soon this little baby will no longer be in my belly and will be in my arms. This excites and scares me at the same time. A million questions arise in my head. Will I be a good mom? Will I know how to take care of a baby? When was the last time I changed a diaper? How will I balance a job, running a business and a new baby? There is one thing I do know. I am a very strong person and can tackle anything so I am confident that I can handle it. it's just that the unknown scares me a little.
One of the biggest questions is balancing my photography business with being a first time mother. I have amazing interns but I am very much a one gal show. I feel that this next season I will enlist in their help more. I will also schedule photo sessions during the week instead of on weekends (which I had already started doing). One of the biggest things I want to start moving toward is getting a small studio space. I would love for my unpaid interns to become part-time assistants. I am looking at this journey to take a couple of years to plan but I am seriously moving towards it. I have brought up this topic on Facebook before and it's amazing how supportive my clients have been.
I am so excited to be going on the journey of becoming a mom and balancing my business.
Thank you to Chelsea Miller, one of my interns, for taking these beautiful images of me, my baby bump, my hubby and my Maya.
